Winter in Bolivia: Cold Nights, Vulnerable Children

While many of us are enjoying long summer days and warm evenings, it’s a very different story in Bolivia.

There, winter has set in, and it’s harsh. Daytime temperatures may reach the low 20s°C, but once the sun goes down, the mercury drops sharply to just 2 or 3°C.

For families living in poverty, the cold is more than just uncomfortable, it’s dangerous.

Most of the children we serve live in homes that lack windows, insulation, or any form of heating. These poorly constructed shelters offer little protection from the elements, and as a result, the children get sick frequently with colds, respiratory infections, and flu-like illnesses that can become serious without proper care.

At SHFIC, we’re doing what we can to protect their health. One simple but effective way we help is by distributing cod liver oil a natural supplement rich in Vitamin D and Omega-3s to help boost their immune systems during the cold months.

But we can’t do it alone.

With your help, we can reach even more children this winter.Every donation goes directly toward providing essential items like cod liver oil, warm clothing, and basic medical support.

Please consider making a gift today.

Together, we can help these children stay healthy and strong — even through the coldest nights.
